MISSION GROUPS

On enrolment each child is assigned to a Mission group – Aubert, Chanel, Douglas or Mackillop.

Missions groups meet once a week, these are led by Y8 students and have a special character focus.

AUBERT

Mother Mary Joseph Aubert

Suzanne Aubert, better known to many by her cleric name Sister Mary Joseph or Mother Aubert, was a Catholic sister who started a home for orphans and the under-privileged in Jerusalem, New Zealand on the Whanganui River in 1885.

MACKILLOP

Mary Helen MacKillop

Mary Helen MacKillop RSJ was an Australian religious sister who has been declared a saint by the Catholic Church, as St Mary of the Cross. 

Of Scottish descent, she was born in Melbourne but is best known for her activities in South Australia.

CHANEL

St Peter Chanel

Peter Chanel, SM, born Pierre Louis Marie Chanel, was a Catholic priest, missionary, and martyr. Chanel was a member of the Society of Mary or "Marists" and was sent as a missionary to Oceania. 

He arrived on the island of Futuna in November 1837.

DOUGLAS

Father Francis Vernon Douglas

Francis Vernon Douglas was a New Zealand priest of the Missionary Society of St. Columban who was killed in the Philippines by Japanese soldiers in 1943

.
